Open a Demo MetaTrader 4 Account MT4 Demo ... - Forex
I’m a Forex Beginner and am currently in the School or Pipsology. I like to visualize while I learn so I would like to download a trading platform and open a Demo Account while learning. For beginners, is it better to use MT4 or MT5?
I’ve searched this forum but haven’t really found the info I’m looking for so I’ll just ask. I’m learning right now in baby pips and wanted a demo account to use concurrently . I’ve been a Mac user for years now (graphic designer) and I need to buy another computer for the household for other reasons so I wanted to know if I should bite the bullet and get a pc because it seems a lot of people say you have more access to platforms on there or stick with Mac because that’s what I know and utilize more. If I get a Mac will it be to my own detriment as a newbie? Is a PC to forex what Mac is to creative work? What’s the consensus?! Edit: thanks for the replies, I’m going to go with a pc since it’s much cheaper and I’d only really utilize it for trading. I’ve also noticed everyone mostly mentions MT4 so I guess I’ll start there with a demo.
In this review, we are taking a look at a trading platform that is used by traders all around the world. BrokerXP offers a varied range of financial products with competitive fees and an easy-to-use trading interface. With advanced trading tools and charting features. BrokerXP Slogan
If trading fees are important to you, then BrokerXP has you covered. BrokerXP offers low spreads that are available to all customers. For forex traders, BrokerXP has no fees at all, this means that you can maximize profits when trading currency pairs. The broker also offers a guaranteed stop-loss order which Is when clients get their stop-loss order rate guaranteed when setting a risk threshold in their position. BrokerXP also offers a 200:1 leverage ratio, which means that for every $1 in your account, you control $200 in the market. So if you are trading and don’t have much capital, you can still generate significant income as your profits can be multiplied by 200x. However, if you are a beginner then it is not advised that you use leverage on your trades. As profits are multiplied, so are losses. Before leveraging, learn the basics and trade using a demo account as this can stop you from losing too much money when you start trading actual capital.
MT4 and BrokerXP have end-to-end encryption that secures trades and funds that are within the trading account itself. Imagine your trading account like a debit card, you wouldn’t put thousands of dollars in your debit card and leave it on a park bench. So when choosing what trading platform you want to go with, make sure that they take the security of your account and funds are serious as you do. MetaTrader 4 is seen as the flagship trading platform, used by individual traders at home and large institutional investors alike. The platform is available on iPads, iPhones, Android phones, Android tablets, and just about any other web-enabled device. If you want to use the desktop version, instead of the web-app version, then you can download the desktop version and trade from the version. Once you’ve downloaded or loaded the platform, you can log in using your BrokerXP credentials. You can customize the charting interface, changing between light and dark mode, along with some other interface elements. Like with most online platforms, the security flaws come as a result of the customer not securing their side of things. This means that when you are trading, make sure to use long passwords that are difficult to guess and crack. Also, try and avoid trading on public computers as these can lead to your account being compromised. On MT4 you will notice some phrases on the trading interface, here is some explanation of what they mean. When you see the Symbol tab, this means that you can choose between markets. BrokerXP offers many different trading asset options. You can trade forex, gold, stocks indices, and more. The volume tab is where you decide on your trading size. When you see 1 lot, this is equal to 100,000 units of the base currency. The Type tab is where you decide on your trade execution mode, we advise that you stick to ‘instant execution’ as this will place a trade as soon as your press ‘buy’ or ‘sell’. If you set a ‘pending order’, then the platform will make the trade when the market opens back up. The forex market is open 24/7, so this execution method will rarely be available. Stop-loss is another term that you may see on the MT4 interface, this means that your trades are exited when your profits hit a predetermined point. Depending on what type of trader you are, the platform will offer you a specific set of charting timeframes that best suit you. For example, if you are day trading you may look at charts on a 10-minute timeframe. MT4 offers charting timeframes for 1 minute, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 4 hours, 1 day, and 1 month. You can also set custom timeframes in case the standard ones are not suitable for your trading technique. Along with advanced timeframes, MT4 also offers 30 technical indicators such as the Elliot Wave indicator, Bollinger Bands, and pivot points, along with many more. There are also third-party add-ons that can be integrated with the platform in order to customize your interface further. Add-ons like Stealth Orders and Alarm Manager are two of the most popular addons. The first is an extension, Stealth Orders is designed to anonymize trades, with Alarm Manager helping coordinate alerts and notifications. With MT4, you can also create your own extensions using Java API, which is one of the platforms most advantageous features, as it can make everything unique.
BrokerXP Mobile Trading
The MetaTrader 4 mobile app is designed with the main focus being on ease-of-use. The mobile app is packaged with lots of research tools, advanced charts, and watch lists for scanning, with many more features. When using BrokerXP’s mobile trading app (MT4), the look and feel of the mobile app have the same appearance as the web version. This means that if you know to operate the web-based platform, then the mobile app will be easy for you to grasp. With charting, you are given the same charts that are offered on the web app. However, due to the mobile screen being smaller, carrying out advanced forex analysis may be more difficult on mobile devices. But for making orders, setting stop loss or checking basic tasks, the mobile app is more than capable of doing so. The main benefit of using the mobile app is that you can make trades on the go. You no longer have to be at your computer or office in order to set trades. Let’s say that you make a trade at home then go grocery shopping. Whilst you are out you realize that you didn’t set stop-loss in your rush and your pair is depreciating when you check. Now, you can use your mobile to exit a position immediately, you don’t need to wait until you get home.
BrokerXP Customer Service

The MT4 platform also has a customer support team that is able to deal with any questions or issues that you are having on the trading side of things. A community forum is a great place for you to get tips about trading and non-essential things that the customer support team may not need to answer. For customer service, you could read here and on this link. To conclude, BrokerXP is one of the best choices for financial asset trading available. Next steps after finishing Trading and Machine Learning specialization
Hello everyone, I just finished a specialization entailing using google AI platform and Big Query ML to develop trading strategies as well as RL agents, yet I’ve only been able to do this on historical data, I was hoping someone who’s already been through all this could advise me on the next steps. I’m looking to now go ahead and create automated trading systems based on the models and Reinforcement learning agents I have learned to develop. The books and courses I have taken have lead me up to what seems to be everything other than actually connecting to a live demo account to go ahead and create an automated system to now play out the models and such. I’ve been using Quandl and Open AI gym, not sure how I transition my agent from a Gym environment to live trading on a demo account because all the books and courses I have taken seem to purposely avoid this step. I’m really looking to use RL for forex trading but I don’t know how I would connect systems to a MT4 GUI, so I was just hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction about how I should go about connecting an API to my AI platform notebooks to test my models live. Any direction would be greatly appreciated thanks everyone, I’m really looking forward to getting started in the industry; if I can figure this last thing out I don’t think it will be a problem haha, but stuck till then!
I have been reading all I can find on here and the internet for a good broker to start with and see the multitude of responses. I originally wanted to day trade stocks and made an account with TD Ameritrade but found that just didn't work with my work schedule. For the past couple months I've looked into forex. I had planned on funding my td account with the $2000 min after some more paper trading but see they won't allow accounts in Arizona which is where I plan to move soon. So now back to looking at brokers I've made a demo account with IG and plan to do the same with Oanda and Pepperstone. Can any of you give experiences as a US trader and preferably with a smaller account? I like that pepperstone has mt5 as an option and if u went with them would probably use that over mt4. I hate to learn mt4 if it will just be slowly phased out. What are your thoughts on all this?

Binary Options Review; Best Binary Options Brokers
Binary Options Review; Best Binary Options Brokers We have compared the best regulated binary options brokers and platforms in May 2020 and created this top list. Every binary options company here has been personally reviewed by us to help you find the best binary options platform for both beginners and experts. The broker comparison list below shows which binary trading sites came out on top based on different criteria. You can put different trading signals into consideration such as using payout (maximum returns), minimum deposit, bonus offers, or if the operator is regulated or not. You can also read full reviews of each broker, helping you make the best choice. This review is to ensure traders don't lose money in their trading account. How to Compare Brokers and Platforms In order to trade binary options, you need to engage the services of a binary options broker that accepts clients from your country e.g. check US trade requirements if you are in the United States. Here at bitcoinbinaryoptionsreview.com, we have provided all the best comparison factors that will help you select which trading broker to open an account with. We have also looked at our most popular or frequently asked questions, and have noted that these are important factors when traders are comparing different brokers:
What is the Minimum Deposit? (These range from $5 or $10 up to $250)
Are they regulated or licensed, and with which regulator?
Can I open a Demo Account?
Is there a signals service, and is it free?
Can I trade on my mobile phone and is there a mobile app?
Is there a Bonus available for new trader accounts? What are the Terms and
Who has the best binary trading platform? Do you need high detail charts with technical analysis indicators?
Which broker has the best asset lists? Do they offer forex, cryptocurrency, commodities, indices, and stocks – and how many of each?
Which broker has the largest range of expiry times (30 seconds, 60 seconds, end of the day, long term, etc?)
How much is the minimum trade size or amount?
What types of options are available? (Touch, Ladder, Boundary, Pairs, etc)
Additional Tools – Like Early closure or Metatrader 4 (Mt4) plugin or integration
Do they operate a Robot or offer automated trading software?
What is Customer Service like? Do they offer telephone, email and live chat customer support – and in which countries? Do they list direct contact details?
Who has the best payouts or maximum returns? Check the markets you will trade.
The Regulated Binary Brokers Regulation and licensing is a key factor when judging the best broker. Unregulated brokers are not always scams, or untrustworthy, but it does mean a trader must do more ‘due diligence’ before trading with them. A regulated broker is the safest option. Regulators - Leading regulatory bodies include:
CySec – The Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (Cyprus and the EU)
FCA – Financial Conduct Authority (UK)
CFTC – Commodity Futures Trading Commission (US)
FSB – Financial Services Board (South Africa)
ASIC – Australia Securities and Investment Commission
There are other regulators in addition to the above, and in some cases, brokers will be regulated by more than one organization. This is becoming more common in Europe where binary options are coming under increased scrutiny. Reputable, premier brands will have regulation of some sort. Regulation is there to protect traders, to ensure their money is correctly held and to give them a path to take in the event of a dispute. It should therefore be an important consideration when choosing a trading partner. Bonuses - Both sign up bonuses and demo accounts are used to attract new clients. Bonuses are often a deposit match, a one-off payment, or risk-free trade. Whatever the form of a bonus, there are terms and conditions that need to be read. It is worth taking the time to understand those terms before signing up or clicking accept on a bonus offer. If the terms are not to your liking then the bonus loses any attraction and that broker may not be the best choice. Some bonus terms tie in your initial deposit too. It is worth reading T&Cs before agreeing to any bonus, and worth noting that many brokers will give you the option to ‘opt-out’ of taking a bonus. Using a bonus effectively is harder than it sounds. If considering taking up one of these offers, think about whether, and how, it might affect your trading. One common issue is that turnover requirements within the terms, often cause traders to ‘over-trade’. If the bonus does not suit you, turn it down. No amount of demo trading will prepare you for live account.
First of all, I'm not against demo trading. However, no matter the amount of time you spend trading demo, it can never prepare you for living trading. Demo is good for 4 main things:
Introducing you to forex
Understading the mechanics of your trading platform (eg. mt4 or ctrader)
Backtesting a strategy.
Briefly forward-testing a strategy.
The number 1 reason retail traders fail is because of trading psychology. Any basic trading strategy like a simple MA crossover can make you successful if you manage your emotions as a trader. Moving of Stop loss, refusing to set stop loss, letting losses ride while closing profits as quickly as possible are all about problems with your trading psychology and no amount of demo trading will teach you to be better because you are simply not invested in the trades. People recommend trading demo for 6 months or 1 year and that's simply wrong. We have all been at a point where we even forgot about a trade only to open metatrader hours or even days later to see it in profit. There's no lesson learnt here. The 6 months or 1 year you spent trading demo would have been worthwhile if you had gone live with $100 and try taking it to $1,000 over a period of 1 year with a strategy. Don't waste too much time on demo. Find a strategy, backtest it with at least 10 years of data and see if it's worthwhile then move to live. Trading, like every other career, involves cost and consider that first $100 account (which you will probably blow) as part of your cost of training. Stop wasting time on demo. Trading is probably 10% strategy, 90% psychology. Only live account will teach you about psychology.
I opened demo forex account and price is refreshing once a sec or less or sometimes quicker. Is it because it's a demo account? Are all of them so slow in relation to live accounts. MT4 doesn't lag. Ping is around 60. And CPU usage 1-2%. I don't think it is a problem of the platform
Hello everyone, I'm new to trading in Forex and I've been reading and watching videos and webinars to practice on trading forex. I have a small question. I have a demo account with 100,000 on MT4 and I recently made an order in the NZD/USD to buy 1.00 at a fixed price. And the account margin dropped almost 500.00. What exactly happened? And how much does that 1.00 actually worth when I bought it. Any clarification is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Long post here so fair warning So I’m very new into forex and I plan on studying it a while before really getting involved with it. I have messed with bitcoin a good bit in the past and I’m very aware of how emotionally taxing trading can be but could anyone give me an idea of lucrative it could turn out down the road. I don’t plan on starting with more than 50-100$ after I try my demo account and even then I plan to be pretty conservative until I’m comfortable with my strategy and whatnot. Also I’m aware some brokers trade btc pairs and since I have more experience with those I would like a large selection of alt coins because being able to use leverage on those sounds pretty nice on paper. As far as brokers go I’ve had my eye on either Hugosway or fxglory. Also this is my first post in reddit so hello world. Edit: oh can anyone explain the Difference between MT4 and 5? Because a lot of brokers say MT4 but there’s a MT5 available.
How do lots work on mt4? Do they not do custom lots? What is deviation and why can I only buy 0.1, 0.01 etc?
Title. I'm currently on my demo account on mt4 and it only allows me to buy 0.1 and multiples of it. Why is this and why is this different from the forex.com platform that I previously held a demo on? Let's say I buy 0.5 of gold at $1000, why is my margin $1000 and not $500?
So you wanna trade Forex? - tips and tricks inside
Let me just sum some stuff up for you newbies out there. Ive been trading for years, last couple of years more seriously and i turned my strategies into algorithms and i am currently up to 18 algorithms thats trading for me 24/7. Ive learned alot, listened to hundreds of podcasts and read tons of books + research papers and heres some tips and tricks for any newbie out there.
Strategy - How to... When people say "you need a trading strategy!!" Its because trading is very hard and emotional. You need to stick to your rules at all times. Dont panic and move your stop loss or target unless your rules tell you to. Now how do you make these rules? Well this is the part that takes alot of time. If your rules are very simple (for example: "Buy if Last candles low was the lowest low of the past 10 candles." Lets make this a rule. You can backtest it manually by looking at a chart and going back in time and check every candle. or you can code it using super simple software like prorealtime, MT4 ++ Alot of software is basicly "click and drag" and press a button and it gives you backtest from 10-20-30 years ago in 5 seconds. This is the absolute easiest way to backtest rules and systems. If your trading "pure price action" with your drawn lines and shit, the only way to truly backtest that kind of trading is going in a random forex pair to a random point in time, could be 1 year ago, 1 month ago, 5 years ago.. and then you just trade! Move chart 1 candle at a time, draw your lines and do some "actual trading" and look at your results after moving forward in the chart. If you do not test your strategy your just going in blind, which could be disaster.. Maybe someone told u "this is the correct way to trade" or "this strategy is 90% sure to win every trade!!!" If you think you can do trading without a strategy, then your most likely going to look back at an empty account and wonder why you moved that stop loss or why you didnt take profit etc.. and then your gonna give up. People on youtube, forums, interwebz are not going to give you/sell you a working strategy thats gonna make you rich. If they had a working strategy, they would not give it away/sell it to you.
Money management - How to.... Gonna keep this one short. Risk a small % of your capital on each trade. Dont risk 10%, dont risk 20%. You are going to see loosing trades, your probably gonna see 5-10 loss in a row!! If your trading a 1000$ account and your risking 100$ on each trade (10%) and you loose 5 in a row, your down -50% and probably you cant even trade cus of margin req. Game over.. Now how does one get super rich, super fast, from risking 1-3% of your account on each trade?? Well heres the shocking message: YOU CANT GET RICH FAST FROM TRADING UNLESS YOUR WILLING TO GO ALL IN! You can of course go all in on each trade and if you get em all right, you might get 1000%, then you go all in 1 more time and loose it all... The whole point of trading is NOT going bust. Not loosing everything, cus if you loose it all its game over and no more trading for you.
Find your own trading style.... Everyone is different. You can have an average holding period of 1 month or you could be looking at a 1 min chart and average holding time = 10 minutes. For some, less volatility helps them sleep at night. For others, more volatility gives them a rush and some people crave this. There is no "correct" timeframes, or holding periods, or how much to profit or how much to loose. We are all individuals with different taste in risk. Some dont like risk, others wanna go all in to get rich over night. The smart approach is somewhere in the middle. If you dont risk anything, your not gonna get anything. If you risk everything, your most likely going to loose everything. When people are talking about trading style, this is kinda what that means.
There are mainly 2 ways to trade: Divergence and Convergence. Or in other words: Mean reversion or trend following. Lets talk about them both: Trend following is trying to find a trend and stay with the trend until its over. Mean reversion is the belief that price is too far away from the average XX of price, and sooner or later, price will have to return to its average/mean (hence the name: MEAN reversion). Trend following systems usually see a lower winrate (30-40% winrate with no money management is not uncommon to see when backtesting trend following systems.. You can add good money management to get the winrate % higher. Why is the % winrate so low? Well a market, whatever that market is, tend to get real choppy and nasty right after a huge trend. So your gonna see alot of choppy fake signals that might kill 5-6 trades in a row, until the next huge trend starts which is going to cover all the losses from the small losses before the trend took off. Then you gotta hold that trade until trade is done. How do you define "when trend starts and stops"? Well thats back to point 1, find a strategy. Try defining rules for an entry and exit and see how it goes when you backtest it. For mean reversion the win % is usually high, like 70-90% winrate, but the average winning trade is alot smaller than the average loosing trade. this happens because you are basicly trying to catch a falling knife, or catch a booming rocket. Usually when trading mean reversion, waiting for price to actually reverse can very often leave you with being "too late", so you kinda have to find "the bottom" or "the top" before it actually has bottomed/ topped out and reversed. How can you do this you ask? Well your never going to hit every top or every bottom, but you can find ways to find "the bottom-ish" or "the top-ish", thens ell as soon as price reverts back to the mean. Sometimes your gonna wish you held on to the trade for longer, but again, back to point 1: Backtest your rules and figure that shit out.
Read these 4 points and try to follow them and you are at least 4 steps closer to being a profitable trader. Some might disagree with me on some points but i think for the majority, people are going to agree that these 4 points are pretty much universal. Most traders have done or are doing these things every day, in every trade. Here is some GREAT material to read: Kevin Davey has won trading championship multiple times and he has written multiple great books, from beginner to advanced level. Recommend these books 100%, for example: Building winning algorithmic trading systems" will give you alot to work with when it comes to all 4 of the above points. Market wizards, Reminiscences of a stock operator are 2 books that are a great read but wont give you much "trading knowledge" that you can directly use for your trading. Books on "The turtles" are great reading. Then you have podcasts and youtube. I would stay away from youtube as much as possible when it comes to "Heres how to use the rsi!!!" or "this strategy will make you rich!!". Most youtube videoes are made by people who wanna sell you a course or a book. Most of this is just pure bullshit. Youtube can very harmfull and i would honestly advice about going there for "strategy adivce" and such. Podcasts tho are amazing, i highly recommend: Better systems trader, Chat with traders, Top traders unplugged, We study billionairs, to name a few :) Also, on a less funny note.. Please realize that you are, and i am, real fucking stupid and lazy compared to the actual pro's out there. This is why you should not go "all in" on some blind stupid strategy youve heard about. This is why this is indeed VERY FUCKING HARD and most, if not everyone has busted an account or two before realizing just this. Your dumb.. your not going to be super rich within 1 year.. You can not start with 500$ account and make millions! (some might have been able to do this, but know that for every winner, theres 999 loosers behind him that failed... Might work fine first 5 trades, then 1 fuckup tho and ur gone.. And lastly: Try using a backtesting software. Its often FREE!!! (on a demo account) and often so simple a baby could use it. If your trading lines and such there exists web broweser "games" and softwares that lets you go "1 and 1 candle ahead" in random forex pairs and that lets you trade as if its "real" as it goes. A big backtesting trap however is backtesting "losely" by just drawing lines and looking at chart going "oh i would have taken this trade FOR SURE!! I would have made so much money!!" however this is not actually backtesting, its cherry picking and its biased beyond the grave, and its going to hurt you. Try going 1 candle at a time doing "real and live" trades and see how it goes. Bonus point!! many people misunderstands what indicators like the RSI is telling you. Indeed something is "overbought" or "oversold" but only compared to the last average of xx amounts of bars/candles. It doesn't tell you that RIGHT NOW is a great time to sell or buy. It only tells you that the math formula that is RSI, gives you a number between 1-100, and when its above 70 its telling you that momentum is up compared to the last average 14 candles. This is not a complete buy/sell signal. Its more like a filter if anything. This is true for MOST indicators. They INDICATE stuff. Dont use them as pure buy/sell signals.. At least backtest that shit first! Your probably gonna be shocked at the shitty results if you "buy wehn rsi is undeer 30 and sell when RSI is above 70". Editedit: Huge post already, why not copy paste my comment with an example showing the difference in trend following vs mean reversion: The thing about trend following is that we never know when a trade starts and when it ends. So what often happens is that you have to buy every breakout going up, but not every breakout is a new trend. Lets do an example. Check out the photo i included here: https://imageshost.eu/image/image.RcC THE PHOTO IS JUST AN EXAMPLE THAT SHOWS WHY A TYPICAL TREND FOLLOWING STRATEGY HAVE A "LOW" WINRATE. THE PHOTO IS NOT SHOWING AN EXAMPLE OF MY STRATEGIES OR TRADING.
We identify the big orange trend up.
We see the big break down (marked with the vertical red line) this is telling us we are not going higher just yet. Our upwards trend is broken. However we might continue going up in a new trend, but when will that trend come?
We can draw the blue trend very earyly using highs and lows, lines up and down. Then we begin to look for breakouts of the upper blue line. So every time price breaks upper blue line we have to buy (cus how else are we going to "catch the next trend going up?)
As you can see we get 5 false breakouts before the real breakout happens! Now if you could tell fake breakouts from real breakouts, your gonna be rich hehe. For everyone else: Take every signal you can get, put a "tight" stop loss so in case its a fake signal you only loose a little bit. Then when breakout happens as you can clearly see in chart, your going to make back all the small losses. So in this example we fail 5 times, but get 1 HUGE new trend going further up. This 1 huge trade, unless we fuck it up and take profits too early or shit like that, is going to win back all those small losses + more. This is why trend following has a low winrate. You get 5 small loss and 1 big win. Now lets flip this! Imagine if your trading Mean reversion on all the same red arrows! So every time price hits the blue line, we go short back to the bottom (or middle) again! You would have won 5 trades with small profits, but on that last one you would get stopped out so hard. Meaning 5 small wins, 1 big loss (as some have pointed out in comments, if you where trading mean reverting you would wanna buy the lows as well as short the tops - photo was suppose to show why trend following strategies have a lower % winrate.) Final edit: sorry this looks like a wall of text on ur phones.
Recommendation for Microlot broker (german customer)?
Hi, I wanna trade forex. or , currently, I mostly wanna build an expert advisor and if it is successfull in some demo account, I might wanna try it on some small account trading microlots. but in either case, even to test the robot, i somewhere need an account at a broker. and looking to the future plans of trading, I would love to open an account with a broker that offers microlots for forex. can you recommend one? I am not entirely sure if currently using MQL4 or MQL5, respectively Metatrader 4 or 5 is better. I would prefer 4 (simply cause it's very well known and common) but am not sure if by now, MT4 isn't kind of "outdated" or having obvious disadvantages vs MT5. so not sure about which one would be smarter to use. soo anyways, what qwould be a broker that you can recommedn that allows microlots, or in general offers unusually small lot sizes? also, thing is, I'm from germany, europe. so not every broker might be accepting me. happy about any recommendations anyways :-)
College forex trader - would appreciate some help!
So a few months ago, someone I had met in the first few weeks of my first semester at college, had been posting pictures of his MT4 account with his profits, and I was pretty intrigued. I asked him what it was, and he said it was the Forex market, so I wanted to learn more and asked to meet up with him. When we met he was explaining it a little more and told me that he was in this networking trade group called IMarketsLive and went on to offer for me to sign up, upon which I said I wanna do a little research before I sign up for anything. And so I did, and saw a lot of different opinions about IML and the things they do, and I wasn't really attracted to the networking aspect and also did not want to start paying $275 a month just to be in the group. It seemed to me like it was kind of a pyramid scheme, so I turned down the offer but decided to try to learn about the Forex market for free on my own. I started doing more research about it in my free time, and eventually I discovered the BabyPips website where you can go through around a 330 lesson course, which goes through a lot of the basics and foundations of Forex trading. I made it through that in about a month and a half or so, and then opened up a demo account with IG. I watch a lot of youtube so more and more videos about forex started popping up in my recommended and have definitely helped along the road. One thing I saw is not to have a demo account for too long, so after around a month of having the demo and getting a little profit, I opened a live account with $300 on Oanda. I use their online trading platform and it's alright, there are some things I liked better with IG but that's besides the point. I've been trading with lots of 500 units or less so I'm only down about $6, but I feel like I'm kind of stuck. After all the stuff I've read and watched so far, I've come to understand that there are some key things every trader needs to do. From what I've seen, it's
develop and backtest a trading plan and follow it strictly
always use stop losses
have good risk management
have balance of technical and fundamental analysis (which I recently realized as I hadn't studied any fundamentals)
keep a trading journal
don't over leverage
have a good trading psychology
keep it simple
Among a few other things I might be forgetting, I understand these are crucial points to follow to become a successful trader. The only thing is I feel like I've flooded myself with so much information and I really don't know where to go from here. I don't have a trading plan mainly because the best thing I've heard to do is make one that fits my trading style, but simply put I don't know what my trading style is and don't know how to actually construct a usable plan. I know many people join the market because of the dream of turning $25 into a million dollars, however I don't have that mindset. Also I know I should focus first on preserving my capital and being consistent rather than focus on getting a lot of money, I just don't know how to do this. I am ready to put more effort into the market, I just don't know where to put it. Another thing to note is that for when I am ready and have developed a proper strategy and everything, I have sufficient capital (around $3k) to actually start making some serious profit. (for a 19 y/o!) Anyways, if you would like to give any advice, tips, things to avoid, stories, anything - that would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for reading👍 EDIT: This is my first time using reddit so I can't reply to anything because I don't have enough karma whatever that means. But thanks for your responses, they will definitely help me to start building my own strategy.
Corona Virus/Covid-19 Pandemic: Right time to start your own Forex https://preview.redd.it/b1lmouy7fry41.png?width=563&format=png&auto=webp&s=e5f39e5c02b22487a0c65b65f176ccc4dadc4298 The world as we know is in doldrums primarily due to Corona Virus or COVID-19 which has been declared Pandemic by WHO. Almost all the securities markets are falling world over. This is probably the first time when even Gold is falling when stock market is falling. Crude has nosedived. Bitcoin which has been touted as “safe” investment same as Gold has depleted its value sharply contrary popular belief of it should have been gone up. There is no vaccine or medication available for Corona Virus. Moreover, it may take while before we see any substantial results. So, the only solution to the Corona Virus or COVID-19-update) is physical distancing by social distancing. Many people have gone into “Self Quarantine” and staying home.
Now is a good time to start forex brokerage business that you have been planning for so long. Here is the reasoning:
Stock Markets are in turmoil and Liquidity is fast eroding. The liquidity is the life blood of all the securities markets be it stocks, bonds, crude, gold, commodities or FOREX. Without liquidity, markets are worthless.
Many countries have either implemented restrictions like ban on short selling or are planning to put these restrictions. Short selling is not the only restrictions; there could be many more going forward if the conditions don’t improve. China kept its market almost closed and has been controlling it vigorously.
Many businesses are either shut or partially closed. Large Corporates are bailed out by stimulus packages. Small businesses are not going to get much benefit. What are they and their employees going to do to make living?
Since Forex Market is decentralized, Liquidity doesn’t depend on just one market or government. No one agency can control or stop trading in Forex.
It doesn’t cost much to start a Forex Brokerage Business. One can start a fully branded MT4/MT5 White Label Brokerage for less than USD 10,000 in first month charges and USD 3500 in monthly charges depending on what jurisdiction they operate in.
A co-branded Forex Brokerage also known as Forex Grey Label (MT4/MT5 Grey Label) would cost much less. You can start Forex Grey Label Business for as low as USD 2000 in first month charges and USD 1500 in monthly charges.
Forex Brokerage Business is largely run on technology only. A good Turnkey Forex Solution Provider or Forex Brokerage Technology provider would set you completely free.
What kind of operational set up is needed?
The core function of a Forex Broker is to help traders discover the best prices. Moreover, let them trade at best prices. Forex Brokers can be broadly divided into two categories on the basis of how trade orders are filled:
All you would need is to on-board and serve the traders/clients to start and run your won forex brokerage business.
Since you are just starting up your brokerage, you should target both seasoned and first time traders.
You may offer promotional packages to seasoned traders to open account and trade with you.
First Timers should be offered with DEMO Account to learn the ropes of Forex Trading. It takes a while to understand what is a currency pair, lot sizes, brokerage charges, and spread, swap charges, etc.
What time frame should I be trading In with a full time job?
As I work full time and am learning forex as a bit of a side project, on my demo account what kind of time frame should I be looking at when looking for trends and then taking positions? Currently on mt4 I am using m5.
New in this space, downloaded MT4 with demo accounts from forex.com and OandA and neither allow you to trade gold...the symbol doesn't show up :( I read the wiki & understand now why that is. So, what are some safe/reliable forex trading services that you guys are using that allow a US citizen to trade gold?
I'm new to forex, I've been mostly trading on think or swim day trading and I just decided to check forex out, for me it seems like a little more slow passed and very technical, I just downloaded metatrader 4 but I don't actually know how the broiler systems works with meta trader, I'm use to just downloading the platform on the account I already have like interactive brooked or TDAmeritrade. So my question would be some help on how to set up to practice in a demo account or a live account as well Thanks!
Hi, i'm starting in Forex and i'm very excited about it. Actually i'm using a demo account, and I have one in MT4 and one in MT5. Both are almost the same, but I feel MT5 better... more filled with options. (May never use them, but I have the option). But I read MT4 it's more accepted in Brokers, (like ICMarkets, that may im gonna use), and it have a bigger comunity. I don't really know what I really need and what's better to choose... So... what dou you recommend guys? What do you use and why?
